December 11th, 2020– Town of Islip employees went above and beyond this holiday season, giving generously to the 2020 Salvation Army Angel Tree Program. Town staff adopted more than 60 “Angels,” and carefully selected toys, bicycles, dolls, clothing, games and more from each child’s wish list. Gifts were bundled, labeled and taken back to Salvation Army headquarters in Northport, where they’ll be distributed to families in need
November 30th, 2020 – Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Town officials and members of the Town’s Public Safety division, to recognize a retiring veteran public safety officer recently. Sergeant Ed Carter, one of the Town’s first public safety officers, was celebrated with a traditional “walk-out.”
November 25th, 2020 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter, and the staff of the Town’s Division of Parks and Recreation and Cultural Affairs, were recruited by Santa and his elves to craft handmade decorations for the Town’s FREE Drive-In Movie Night, featuring ELF at Brookwood Hall on Friday, December 4th.
November 25th, 2020 – Families throughout the Town of Islip will sit down to a traditional Thanksgiving dinner Thursday, thanks to the combined efforts of Islip Food for Hope, the Supervisor’s office and various Town departments.
November 25th, 2020 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter honored three Park Rangers for helping find a missing autistic Islip teenager last week. Sergeant Ed Carter, Park Ranger, Anthony Lagrasta and Park Ranger, Joseph Esposito, were recognized by Supervisor Carpenter for their heroism, after locating the teen in the woods nearby his home. The teen had been reported missing by his parents at approximately 3:30 Wednesday, November 18th after getting off the school bus.
November 24th, 2020 – Town of Islip employees from various departments, participated in a one-hour seminar given by Joseph Fox, Executive, Life and Leadership Coach. Fox, a former Chief of the NYC Transit Bureau, shares his insights into leadership from 30 years of experience protecting New York City, and managing thousands of police officers.
November 23rd, 2020 – Approximately 100 participating personnel from multiple mutual aid and airport departments responded to Long Island MacArthur Airport Sunday, in the same manner they would had an actual aircraft accident occurred. The emergency response was part of the airport’s full-scale emergency disaster exercise.
