Whole Foods opened a 43,000-square-foot store, located in the Shops at SunVet at 5801 Sunrise Hwy.The Holbrook store marks the eighth Whole Foods Market location on Long Island, with decor inspired by Long Island culture combining a unique blend of history, arts and coastal lifestyle.

Islip, NY – The Town of Islip today announced the passage of legislation granting a partial real property tax exemption of up to 50% to surviving spouses of police officers killed in the line of duty. The exemption applies to property owned and used by the surviving spouse as his or her primary residence.

Students from Brentwood’s West Middle School gathered with faculty, staff, and Islip Town officials, including Councilman Jorge Guadron to donate 2,000 plastic bottles collected over the course of the schoolyear to the Town’s PET for Pets initiative. Students in Mrs. Tronolone and Mrs. Patton’s middle school class oversaw the collection. The students’ recycling effort is part of Mr. Rivera’s Green Machines Recycling project designed to reduce the school’s carbon footprint, give back to the community and to students.
