Bay Bottom Licensing Program
The Town of Islip established a Bay Bottom Licensing Program encompassing over 1500 acres of Town-owned bay bottom. The Program has proven successful as both a boost to the local economy, and to its participants who grow oysters, hard shell clams and sugar kelp. Once grown, the product is harvested and sold to local restaurants, and retail and wholesale establishments.
To sign up for future available parcels please complete our submission form. You can also view the applicant waiting list.

WRAP Program - We Recycle America Proudly
Our award-winning recycling program utilizes an alternating collection schedule. A WRAP Calendar is mailed to residents at the end of each year indicating the scheduled pickup days and detailing which items are acceptable for recycling.
If you've recently moved in or just need to replace a damaged or lost recycling pail, please fill out the WRAP Pail request form.
Compost and Wood Mulch

Compost material is available free of charge to Town of Islip Residents and available for purchase by commercial customers. Compost is available year-round at the Town’s MacArthur Compost Facility.
Unlimited Yard Waste Collection
Unlimited Yard Waste Collection programs are held in the Spring, Fall and Winter. During the Unlimited Yard Waste collection program yard waste will not be collected with your regular garbage. A separate truck will collect it on your scheduled day. Refer to the Islip Information Dashboard for item regulations and schedules.
Grass Clippings are NOT collected curbside year round. Residents participate in our “Don’t Bag It” Program by either mulching or dropping off grass clippings at the MacArthur Compost Facility
