A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” Angie

June 14th, 2021 Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter and Councilman Jim O’Connor recently joined employees of the Islip Multi-purpose Recycling Center in Holbrook for the Town’s annual Shred Day.

Shred Day is a free event held annually on weekends in the spring and fall, whereby residents can dispose of confidential papers such as bank statements, medical records, tax bills and other documents. “This is a great opportunity for residents to prevent their personal information from reaching the wrong hands and compromising the security of their identities, finances or personal property,” said Supervisor Carpenter.

Documents were shredded on site at the Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility in Holbrook, with the help of Iron Mountain, a secure shredding service. Overall, the Town shredded a total of 20,000 pounds of paper collected from 415 cars that passed through.

For more information about Iron Mountain and the services they offer, visit their website: www.ironmountain.com/services/secure-shredding. The Multi-Purpose Recycling Facility is located at 1155 Lincoln Ave in Holbrook. For more information visit: www.islipny.gov/community-and-services/recycling-facility
