November 17th, 2021 – Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter applauded Department of Public Works crews for their tireless work last week, assisting teams from PSEG-LI in the aftermath of a storm carrying high winds and heavy rains that hit the region midday Saturday. The storm caused downed trees and limbs that resulted in damage to property and automobiles in Nassau and Suffolk counties.
November 4th, 2021 – Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter along with the members of the Islip Town Board, unanimously adopted the Town’s 2022 annual operating budget and the 2022 capital budget plan at today’s budget hearing, and is available here.
November 11th, 2021 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined with members of the American Legion Rusy Bohm Post 411 to honor Veterans Day and all who served. Town Council members Trish Bergin, James O’Connor, and Mary Kate Mullen also attended.
November 10th, 2021 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter joined students of the Bayview Elementary School in West Islip at a car parade honoring veterans.
November 5th, 2021 – Islip Town officials unveiled a new sign welcoming travelers to Long Island MacArthur Airport in Ronkonkoma. Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter was joined by Long Island MacArthur Airport Commissioner, Shelley LaRose-Arken; Deputy Commissioner Robert Schneider; Town Councilman John Cochrane, Jr. and Commissioner, Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and DPW, Tom Owens. The new sign is located on Veterans Memorial Highway at the airport entrance. Also on hand were Foreign Trade Zone Executive Director, Brad Hemingway and airport staff.
November 5th, 2021 – slip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter presented Citations of Recognition on behalf of the Town Board to first responders from throughout the Town of Islip, to recognize their heroic actions in the fight against the Opioid epidemic. In 2020, Opioid overdoses in Suffolk County rose to its highest rate since 2017, with 1,515 overdoses. Of those, 910 deaths were averted through the administration of Narcan. Since the start of the COVID-19 Pandemic, there has been an uptick in Opioid use stemming from lockdown protocols which brought on isolation, job insecurities and negatively impacted people’s mental health. About a quarter of the documented opioid overdoses took place in the Town of Islip.
October 22nd, 2021 – Staff from Northwell Health provided 54 Town of Islip employees with FREE flu shots in addition to free blood pressure screenings at a mobile health unit outside Town Hall Friday.
