February 8th, 2023 – The Islip Town Board celebrated Black History with the return of its popular in-person ceremonies honoring members of the community who have gone above and beyond to enhance, enrich and improve residents' quality of life in the Town.

"February is National Black History Month… an opportunity for all of us to celebrate and acknowledge the many contributions of our diverse neighbors, volunteers and professionals, who help to enrich our Town every day," said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.

February 3rd, 2023 – Islip Town’s Unity Council hosted its first Unity Ceremony at Town Hall West, attended by several hundred members of the community, including elected officials, organizational leaders, Veterans groups, residents, school and local hospital representatives.

The event took place on what is also known as International Holocaust Remembrance Day, Friday, January 27th.

February 3rd, 2023 – Islip Town employees turned out wearing red by the dozens, for the Town’s annual “Go Red for Women” campaign Friday, during February, American Heart Month. Staff from departments Town-wide contributed $5 each, to be donated to cardiac health and research programs at neighboring hospitals, Good Samaritan University and South Shore University.

January 23rd, 2023– Hauppauge, NY – Republican State Senators, Assembly Members, Suffolk County Legislators, and Town Supervisors from across Suffolk County joined Eric Alexander, Director of Vision Long Island, and The Building and Construction Trade Council of Nassau and Suffolk Counties to call on the Governor to stop government overreach and put a halt to her misguided housing proposal that would subvert local control.

January 25th, 2023– The Islip Town Board recognized Edwin Yanes at its January Town Board meeting Tuesday. Mr. Yanes wrote a letter in November expressing his concern about littering, with a recommendation to increase the penalty for doing so in public places, in order to further dissuade litterers and reduce pollution in Islip's streets and communities.

January 23rd, 2023 – The Metropolitan PGA recently named Doug Jansen, the Town of Islip golf professional at the Brentwood Country Club, recipient of the association's Merchandiser of the Year (Public) Award 2022. The Merchandiser of the Year Award is designed to recognize those PGA Professionals who have excelled as business persons/merchandisers in the promotion of golf. The PGA honors PGA Professionals in three categories: Private, Public and Resort facilities.
