April 23rd, 2020 – "I applaud Senator Chuck Schumer and the entire Senate delegation, for passing a bill Tuesday that will provide the much-needed funding to the SBA's Paycheck Protection Program and Disaster Loan Program, as well as for fighting to stabilize local governments and avoid a tax increase. This new legislation includes $310 billion to replenish the Paycheck Protection Program and $60 billion for a separate small business emergency loan and grant program.
Small businesses are an essential part of any downtown district. The Town of Islip is the third largest township in the State of New York, and our bustling downtowns are the backbone of our communities. Our businesses and Mom and Pop shops are the realization of dreams and the fruition of their hard work. Closing the doors to once thriving businesses will create shuttered Main Streets and blighted communities, which we urgently want to avoid.
Presently, Congressmen Peter King and Lee Zeldin are helping shepherd this bill through the House of Representatives." -Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter
