August 9th, 2023 – Kids 8-16 years-old have been learning water safety, life saving techniques, and how to use rescue equipment in Atlantique, Fire Island, in preparation for the New York State Level 1 Ocean Lifeguard Test.

The seven-week program includes how to identify dangerous water conditions, and introduces participants to the duties and responsibilities of an ocean lifeguard. The program is run through Open Water Swim Long Island.
