September 10th, 2020 – The New York Blood Center (NYBC) is facing a frightening decline in blood collection due to the COVID-19 pandemic interrupting 75% of the incoming blood supply chain. Blood drives have dropped by two-thirds as unprecedented challenges have destabilized the collection process.
As the exclusive provider of blood to the Northwell and Catholic Health System, NYBC is reaching out to the community, urging all who are able to consider donating blood ASAP. Those interested can schedule an appointment via: https://donate.nybc.org/donor/auth/signin.
Additionally there will be two upcoming blood drives in our area:
- AMVETS LADIES AUXILARY: September 14th from 1:00pm — 7:00pm at 141 Carleton Avenue. East Islip
- Islip Fire Department: September 16th, from 2:00pm — 8:00pm at 28 Monell Avenue, Islip
