A Message from the Supervisor

“Welcome to Islip, the 3rd largest town in New York State, but with an endearing small town feel. We are so proud of our town…our beaches, golf courses, marinas, parks, housing opportunities for all, businesses, industrial parks, healthcare and educational institutions including our own Islip MacArthur Airport that provides many job opportunities. I sincerely hope you find this website helpful.” - Angie

January 7th, 2022 – In response to New York State experiencing record numbers of COVID-19 cases, NYS Governor Hochul has provided updated quarantine guidance, announcing that the NYSDOH is aligning with CDC’s updated isolation and quarantine recommendations. See the complete Updated quarantine and isolation guidance here.

For isolation and quarantine of the general population, follow the CDC recommendations (CDC Updates and Shortens Recommended Isolation and Quarantine Period for General Population) as follows:
  • Isolate for 5 days, whereday 0 is the day of symptom onset or (if asymptomatic) the day of collection of the first positive specimen.

  • If asymptomatic at the end of 5 days or if symptoms are resolving, isolation ends and the individual should wear a well-fitting mask while around others for an additional 5 days.

  • Individuals who are moderately-severely immunocompromised should continue to follow standard (i.e., not shortened) Isolation Guidance.

  • Individuals who are unable to wear a well-fitting mask for 5 days after a 5-day isolation should also follow standard (i.e., not shortened) Isolation Guidance.
