April 9th, 2020 – Danny Tran, owner of Islip Cleaners and Tailors, and Mareia Vargas, are sewing masks in colors inspired by Easter eggs.
The masks are being donated to local nursing homes, and are for sale to his customers.
April 9th, 2020 – Gloves and masks, or personal protective equipment (PPE), can be found littered in parking lots of local supermarkets, pharmacies and other big box stores throughout the Town of Islip.
April 8th, 2020 – Lee's Auto Body Shop demonstrated its appreciation for the health care workers and first responders on the front lines, with signage outside their shop.
April 7th, 2020 – Rabbi Shimon Stillerman, Director of the Chabad of Islip Township, Bay Shore, hands out matzo and other Passover essentials to Chabad members.
Larry, Ellen and Paul maintained social distance as they drove past the Rabbi's home to receive beloved essentials for a traditional Passover holiday meal. Passover begins at sundown Wednesday, April 8th. Happy Passover to all!
April 6th, 2020 – Town of Islip Councilman and President of the Defense Association of New York, James P. O'Connor, was recently quoted in the New York Law Journal, advocating for pragmatic and safe job saving solutions in response to the COVID-19 public health crisis.
April 3rd, 2020 – April weddings are being officiated outside Islip Town Hall amidst COVID-19. Oscar Orlando and Velasquez Benitez were married by Karen Santana on the steps of Town Hall.
April 3rd, 2020 – New York State guidance during COVID-19 has been updated to reflect that landscaping for maintenance and pest control purposes has been designated as ESSENTIAL.
Horticulture is designated as non-essential business, (with the exception of nurseries/greenhouses selling food-producing plants.)
