ISLIP, NY – Town of Islip DPW crews are out in full force, filling potholes throughout the Town’s approximately 1,300 miles of roadway. To date in 2026, crews have already filled more than 12,250 potholes. As highway crews continue to address potholes across the Town, Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter wants to remind residents that the Town of Islip can only perform repairs on roads that are under Town jurisdiction.

Some roadways within the township are maintained by Suffolk County Department of Public Works or by the New York State Department of Transportation. While these roads run through town neighborhoods, they are not maintained by the Town, and crews are not authorized to make repairs on them.

“We understand how frustrating potholes can be, especially during the winter months, and we remain committed to responding quickly and efficiently to issues on Town-maintained roads. Please call 631-224-5610 to report a pothole in the Town of Islip. Our Highway Department will continue working diligently to keep Town roads safe and in good condition for all who travel them,” said Supervisor Carpenter.

For potholes located on County or State roads, we encourage residents to report them directly to the appropriate agency to ensure prompt attention.
