ISLIP, NY – December 26th, 2025 –ursuant to Article 2-B and Section 24 of the New York State Executive Law, I, Angie M. Carpenter, Supervisor and Chief Executive of the Town of Islip, hereby declare a Local State of Emergency within the territorial limits of the Town of Islip as of 3:00 P.M. on the 26th day of December, 2025.

This Local State of Emergency has been declared due to the occurrence of a severe weather event expected to produce hazardous conditions in the Town of Islip, including but not limited to: heavy snow accumulation, ice, and other severe weather conditions. Such conditions pose an imminent danger to the health, safety, and welfare of persons and property within the Town of Islip, and may result in road closures, travel disruptions, widespread power outages, and damage to public and private property.

Pursuant to my authority under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, Section 24, I hereby direct the commissioners of the Town of Islip departments of Emergency Management, Public Works, Parks Recreation and Cultural Affairs, Aviation and Transportation, and Public Safety to take whatever steps they deem necessary to render emergency assistance and protect life, property, and public infrastructure with the Town of Islip during the Local State of Emergency.

Please be further advised that pursuant to Islip Town Code Section TC3-11, it is a violation for any motor vehicle to be parked on the street during the pendency of a snow-related emergency. Leaving vehicles parked in the street creates a danger to plow operators and may result in damage to such vehicles as assistance is rendered during the snow-related emergency.
