ISLIP, NY – December 19th, 2025 - Islip residents joined with Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter, Rabbi Shimon Stillerman of Chabad of Islip, Town of Islip officials, and members of the Islip Terrace Fire Department at the Town of Islip annual Menorah Lighting at Town Hall Monday for the second night of Hanukkah.

Families gathered around the menorah as Rabbi Stillerman shared a message of resilience and remembrance in the wake of the Bondi Beach shooting on Sunday. “Together, let’s unite and celebrate this Hanukkah with joy because it’s a holiday of joy,” he said.

Supervisor Carpenter echoed the Rabbi’s message, adding that Islip Town is a community to all. “We condemn anyone who attacks others based on race or religion and support the rights of all to joyfully and safely celebrate their Holidays,” said Supervisor Carpenter, “Let our coming together in reverence stand as a signal to darkness in every corner.”
