**ALERT** U.S. Postal Service Error Causes Some “Undeliverable” Tax Payments. Click here to read more.

From the Receiver of Taxes:

On January 17 2024, Andy Wittman, the Receiver of Taxes for the Town of Islip became aware of a “scanning machine error” at the United States Postal Service (USPS) Mid-Island Processing and Distribution Center in Melville, NY. This error has caused several tax envelopes containing payments to be returned to the sender as “undeliverable.”

Property tax payments for the Town of Islip, and all of Suffolk County, are due on or before January 10, 2024 in order to avoid penalty. Do not discard the returned envelope, as its postmark serves as proof of a timely payment.

Residents who have received their envelopes returned to them are encouraged to contact the Tax Receivers office at 631-224-5580 immediately.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN TO THE TAXPAYERS OF THE TOWN OF ISLIP; that Andy Wittman, the Receiver of Taxes has received the 2023-2024 Assessment Roll and Warrant. He will accept payment of taxes by mail or at his office beginning Monday, December 11, 2023. Online payments begin Monday, December 11, 2023, starting at 10am., please visit https://tax.islipny.gov. The tax bills are being mailed out the week of December 11, 2023.

  • Monday, May 27, 2024 in observance of Memorial Day

Special Dates/Hours:

  • Wednesday, January 10, 2024 – (8:30am – 7:00pm)
  • Friday, May 31, 2024 – (8:30am – 7:00pm)
The office is closed on Saturday, Sunday and holidays.

***THE 2023-2024 TAX BILL WILL BE MAILED TO THE ADDRESS ON FILE ON OR ABOUT DECEMBER 11, 2023*** You will not receive a bill in December if your property taxes are escrowed through your financial institution.

After April 10th 4% Penalty
May 11th to May 31st 5% Penalty

  • After May 31st, any taxes plus penalty and interest must be paid to the Suffolk County Comptroller’s office, located at 330 Center Drive Riverhead, NY 11901. (631) 852-3000.
