May 3rd, 2024 – Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter is pleased to announce that Moody’s Analytics, Inc. has once again reaffirmed the Town’s outstanding financial Aaa status for the 9th consecutive time. The Town’s rating was first upgraded in March 2016 to Aaa, and was reaffirmed Aaa in September 2016; September 2017; October 2018; April 2019; October 2020; April 2021; July 2022; April 2023 and most recently, April 2024.

– Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter met with Girl Scout Junior Troop 230, 4th & 5th grade girls at Brettonwoods Elementary School, who are writing a book as part of their Bronze Award project. The students' project features women within the community who serve in roles traditionally held by men. As the first woman supervisor in the Town of Islip's history, the students selected Supervisor Angie Carpenter to be a part of their book documenting her milestone achievement.
May 1st, 2024 – The annual cleanup of Spur Drive South from Brentwood Road to 5th Ave recently kicked-off with dozens of volunteers turning out to get involved. This year, South Shore University Hospital and the Town of Islip came together to partner with the Islip Chamber of Commerce Beautification Committee and KIC (Keep Islip Clean).

– Empire State Development (ESD) recently announced the completion of Pal-O-Mine Equestrian’s $3 million facility expansion in Islandia. Pal-O-Mine is a non-profit organization that utilizes therapeutic equine programs to promote growth, learning, and healing for children and adults with disabilities.

– Students from school districts throughout the Town of Islip recently participated in the Town’s Unity Council Ambassador Program by creating their own Unity Project Action Plan. The Town rebranded its Anti-bias task force to the Town of Islip Unity Council after the COVID-19 Pandemic with the same goals in mind, to celebrate Islip’s culture while educating one another about inclusion, diversity, and equity.

– Each year during the month of April, the Islip Town Board designates the Town Board meeting to celebrate the many wonderful Islip students at its annual Student Community Service Awards Celebration.
