A building may be partially constructed without all the interior elements necessary to complete the building; this document provides guidance on applying the NYS Uniform Code for these situations. A shell, speculative or white box building cannot be occupied or issued a CO upon completion. A separate building permit application for Interior Arrangement must be sought in order to receive a CO.

Affidavit of Exemption to Show Specific Proof of Workers’ Compensation Insurance Coverage for a 1, 2, 3 or 4 Family, Owner-Occupied Residence.

A Compliance Permit Application should be used in lieu of a Building Permit Application when a) the structure was built more than 4 years ago without a permit, b) when the building permit exceeds its allowable renewals, and/or c) when an accessory apartment is built without a permit, regardless of age.
