September 5th, 2023 – Long Island MacArthur Airport is again in the running for Top Small Airport. An independent panel of industry experts and editors nominated MacArthur Airport as part of the USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards. This is MacArthur Airport’s third consecutive nomination.

Beginning September 4th at noon EDT, travelers across the US and beyond can cast one vote each day for their favorite Small Airport in the 2023 10Best Readers’ Choice Awards by using this link: www.10best.com/awards/

“We’re proud to be short-listed again for consideration as one of the 10Best Small Airports in the US,” said Town of Islip Supervisor Angie Carpenter. “This independent recognition of Long Island MacArthur Airport validates our hard work to continually improve our facility, enhance the customer’s experience, and offer new destinations,” she added.

Travelers who fly MacArthur Airport enjoy more convenience, efficiency, comfortability, and a better customer service experience when compared to airports like JFK and LaGuardia.

“It’s time to pull together our community to voice our choice! Long Island loves this airport and now is the time to show your support by voting each day. Awards like this are high visibility within the airline industry and help us make the strongest case for our continued growth here in terms of destinations and additional air service. The Awards also shine light on Long Island as a top destination that is easy to visit through convenient MacArthur Airport,” said Airport Commissioner Shelley LaRose Arken.

In 2020, members of the traveling public weighed in, and Long Island MacArthur Airport was voted the 6th Top Small Airport. In 2021, MacArthur Airport broke the Top 5 Best Small Airports, with a 4th place win. Awards for Best Small Airports were not conducted in 2022.

USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice Awards describes the Small Airport category as one that reflects the benefits of our country’s “smaller, friendlier airports that take some of the headache out of travel.” According to 10Best, Small Airports are facilities that “serve fewer than 10 million passengers each year, yet excel with their commercial flight offerings, easy access and amenities.”

“To be nominated for this Award is a win for us already. Even though we are competing against airports that are much larger than us, as in previous years we believe Long Island pride can propel Long Island’s airport to as strong showing when it comes to voting. We hope every Long Islander will cast a vote for its hometown airport each day through October 2. With theis community’s support, we can succeed!” LaRose-Arken added.
