January 23rd, 2023 – The Metropolitan PGA recently named Doug Jansen, the Town of Islip golf professional at the Brentwood Country Club, recipient of the association's Merchandiser of the Year (Public) Award 2022. The Merchandiser of the Year Award is designed to recognize those PGA Professionals who have excelled as business persons/merchandisers in the promotion of golf. The PGA honors PGA Professionals in three categories: Private, Public and Resort facilities.

"It's truly an honor to be recognized by the Metropolitan PGA," said Doug, who spent 13 years as the professional at the Town's Gull Haven Golf Course, earning this recognition in 2002. "It's gratifying to receive this recognition again, 20 years later, at the Brentwood Country Club," he added.

"Doug is a dedicated and talented golf professional who has earned the respect of his peers, professionals and the general public. We are fortunate to have Doug as part of the Town of Islip team for more than three decades," said Islip Supervisor, Angie Carpenter.

"We are incredibly proud and appreciative of Doug as an exemplary member of our association," said PGA officials. Doug Jansen was recognized at the Metropolitan PGA's Special Awards Dinner.
