Foreign Trade Zone

Conveniently located on the grounds of Long Island MacArthur Airport and near major rail and roadways, the 52-acre zone is Long Island’s only authorized site where foreign and domestic merchandise is considered to be in international commerce. Established in 1982, the Foreign Trade Zone’s first decade produced an 80% occupancy rate, which has since climbed to 95%. Tenants may delay payment of customs duty and excise taxes until the actual time of transfer from the Zone to the United States. Tenants enjoy the Foreign Trade Zone’s duty-free policy when merchandise is imported into the Zone, processed and exported to a foreign market.
